Tens of thousands of Yemenis are rallying in a southern city, demanding the secession of the south from the rest of the country. The protesters in the port city of Aden are demanding the return of the one-time independent state of South Yemen. Monday’s demonstration comes as Yemen’s warring sides are to meet in Kuwait for talks on resolving the year-long conflict between the internationally-recognized government, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, and the country’s Shiite Houthi rebels and their allies.
