Instead of concrete border walls, Dhaka Central Jail (DCJ) in Keraniganj has that side taken by barb-wire & bamboo fence blockade. Md. Ali & Shawkat Ali claim to own this piece of land by the Dhaka-Maoa highway. A committee including ministry employees, are looking into the matter and measuring land mix-ups, confirmed DCJ Super Md. Jagangir Kabir. The authorities have confirmed that, 4 hand length worth fell within the DCJ border. Thus, this has created a land-complexity & authorities are being able to complete their border wall of DCJ.
Caretaker Abdur Rashid & Khairul, are living with their families on this land. Md. Shawkat mentioned that, this land is his inheritance. Also, the high-court’s verdict came to him and the authority offered 10-12 thousand taka per percent of the lands. But, he refused the offer claiming this to be only land he owns.
There is another small portion in the west-north part of DCJ border-line as well. Its land owner also put up fences & placards to show his ownership. He also urged to keep this small land for business purposes. There are small shops & trucks stands on this land.
Though, both these owners complained about an ill-syndicate actively working against them to snatch away their precious lands.
