Private Universities will not be able to admit students without a proper admission tests, strictly orders University Grants Commission (UGC). Also, these universities will have to have 2 semesters per year, instead of current 3 semester system. But, Private University Association has some objections regarding both of these terms.

There are 95 private universities countrywide with certification. 89 are currently operating with 2.5 lacs seats. Not all of the universities maintain quality admission test procedures, and only 14 private universities have 2 semesters system.

UGC will be forming Supervising Committee in preventing irregularities in the university admissions.
