The International Criminal Tribunal for punishing the war-criminals, will be reformed again this week, assured Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq. Tribunal Judge Late Anwarul Haque recently has passed away, on 13 July afternoon at BSMMU. Hence, an emergency judge will be appointed soon, to keep the tribunal running.
Currently, the tribunal is handling 33 cases, against 141 accused. 28 verdicts were announced. Verdict of one case is pending. 5 cases are hearing witnesses. Few other cases are in the process of legitimacy evaluation.
Prosecutor Ziad Al Malum informs to the media, the tribunal will be reformed consisting of a chairman and 2 members. These members will be in-charge of running the tribunal in the absence of the chairman. Unfortunately, the tribunal currently is at halt due to the death of the recent chairman.
