Already over a hundred applications have piled up praying for certification for a private university. As the term of current government nears to the end, more of such applications are piling up. Out of these, only 25 may get accepted, informs University Grants Commission (UGC).

Most applications would be approved upon party & political consideration. Applications from the current ministers, parliamentary members & prominent businessmen, are at the top. They are also lobbying at PM’s Office, UGC and Education Ministry.

A member of Private University Owner Association shares his concern that, the government is doing great work an increasing the reach of education. They made it easy and widely available. But the authorities should run thorough evaluation. That, no student gets harassed or embezzled. They should also keep in mind of the educational structure and curriculum of the new university, in order to determine its possible efficiency & contribution. There are 96 private universities in the country. Only few with suitable & permanent campus. Every year, most of the sits in old private universities lay vacant.
