North Woes for River Erosion

    Brahmaputra River engulfing away the lands by its banks, in the north. Kamarjani Union’s map is changing in the daily basis. People from 10 villages are losing their houses and hopes in the authorities. From schools to mosques, washed away into the river with the ground beneath. Even times of panicking are long passed, now they only woe in sorrow.

    Kamarjani Union has lost 11 villages in past 27 years. Residents grieves of building their houses anew and losing it to the river, each year. People of this area are demanding for a permanent solution.

    Local representatives say, their only capability is to bring financial allocation. They complain, Water Development Board never gives them a positive response.

    On the other hand, Water Development Board says, without sufficient treasury they are unable to hire contractors to tackle erosion.
