The title of the peace denotes that we are already faced with dreadful global scenario which is likely to have huge impact on large-scale social, economic and political situations. There have been significant changes in balance of power over the last two decades. If you take a closer look, the rise and fall of power is the inevitable course of history. So it’s not surprising if big ones weaken and fade and there is the rise of a different force. Rather it makes interesting reading and observation. To be a part of stirring history is something we all are blessed with but seldom do we realize this transformation of time and age while living in it.
The rise of China as economic super power accompanied by its military prowess, the EU volatility, emergence of Germany as a formidable economic engine, destructive battles in Western Asia that have been wounding the nations and destroying infrastructures and resources of these countries, Japan’s slow decline in economy, grave socio-economic (and now political) uncertainty of the US have been the common scenario all these years.
Amidst this turmoil there is again the sign of progress in many parts of the globe. There is the common ‘rotting’ and ‘emerging ‘sides of each country. Then again there is the stark absence of ‘sustainable’ economy plans and implementation schemes anywhere.
There is always the striving of a generation to achieve peace. And this has been done through millions of ways. But the outcome is conflict.
Amidst this volatility we have a person as the US president who has a different approach and ideas towards politics and policies. He made that clear right for the outset. He let the world know during his march to the White House that he would go about his way to tackle things. Most of the world leaders, the Americans ( even his party men and supporters) thought that he wouldn’t be so upright and impending in his attempt to implement those ‘ harsh’ measures that he so forcefully expounded.
Trumps sudden burst with regards to ban on Muslim travelers from seven countries, wall plan along the Mexican border, Iran policy, Israel settlement plans, soft glance towards Russia, testing China and all his domestic programs – is having multiple effects.
One, his hardcore standing on these issues has easily diverted the world towards the White House. There are new calculations in place to measure his steps. There will be huge involvement of minds and heads to handle newer issues (crisis) that will emerge. There will be fresh groups (school of thoughts) to emerge to back up his policies. So the new ‘methodology’ is already underway to read and answer Trump.
Second, the current burning issues so far will automatically take a back seat for now. Whether the issues will die down or flare up with the addition of Trump fuel, we do not know.
But in all likelihood, there ought to be turbulent time ahead. Even if Trump retreats from many of his decisions, he will not abandon the race altogether. He will not take defeat lying down. He thinks Americans safety is at stake.
Long ago, Hitler thought so about Germans. He went his way to see a great war – the war which changed the geography and history of the world in 1945 and beyond.
We have had lots of other conflicts and wars after that. Every battle changes the previous conditions. Be it small or big. Many battles have been fought, wars took place and conflict continues. So are the changes. Rulers and power change, maps transform and leaders are born.
This year will fascinating for all of us. Trade and commerce take essential place in our work, environment and climate also lives loudly in our agenda, art and entertainment continues so are the catastrophic conflicts. The world is in turmoil, once again.
