Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has invited Jatiya Oikya Front, an alliance of BNP and several other parties, for a tea party at Gono Bhaban, her official residence, on February 2.
Sheikh Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League, invited the Okiyafront leaders to take tea with her at Gono Bhaban around 3:30pm, The Daily Star reports citing the party sources.
Rafiqul Islam Pathik, a central leader of Gono Forum which is a component of the Oikya Front, said they were given a letter yesterday which requested the steering committee members of the party to attend the function on due time. Responding to a query, he said no agenda or issues were mentioned in the letter except the tea party.
“What is the tea party? Why will it be held or on which issue? There is no question to attend the tea party,” Pathik said.
Sheikh Hasina formed the government for the third consecutive term following the Awami League’s victory in the December-30 parliamentary elections. The new cabinet was formed on January 7.
The maiden session of the 11th parliament will begin on January 30.
