Hockey: Navy’s joy of hat-trick title

    Bangladesh Navy clinched the hat-trick Victory Day Hockey title when they beat Bangladesh Army by 5-4 goals in a pulsating final at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday, reports the New Age. For Army, Mahbubur Rahman, Hasan Jubayer Niloy, Monoj Babu and Nayeem Uddin scored one goal apiece.
    Chayan gave Navy the lead in the seventh minute of the match from a penalty corner. Army made it 1-1 in the 18th minute with a penalty stroke goal from Nayeem.
    Jimmy made it 3-1 for Navy by scoring two field goals in the 22nd and 36th minutes respectively.
    But Army bounced back strongly with Monoj scoring from a penalty corner in the 41st minute while Mahbub made it 3-3 with a field goal three minutes later.
    Krishna put Navy ahead in the 52nd minute with a penalty corner before Niloy levelled the margin with a field goal in the 54th minute to make it 4-4 for Army.
    But Navy had the last laugh when Mainul scored a field goal in the 58th minute and seal their third consecutive title.
    Bangladesh Hockey Federation president and chief of Bangladesh Air Force, Air Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
