Mash: Politics won’t hinder my focus on cricket

Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has assured his countrymen and fans that his political career will not hinder his duties with the Bangladesh national team.
“I don’t think it will hinder my cricket at all. At this moment I am not involved with the proceedings there (election and campaigning) and my focus is totally on practice. After 14th I will concentrate on those and up till then I want to concentrate wholly on cricket,” the Tigers fast bowler told reporters.

His assurance comes at time when the Tigers are gearing up for their ODI series against the Windies after Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan led them to a 2-0 whitewash over the visitors. Questions were asked of Mashrafe, who has been undergoing training on his own, about whether his responsibilities as a politician will impact his cricket. The ‘Narail Express’ stated that he did not “want any further questions on politics” during the series and hence the reason for the press conference yesterday.

“Before the matches I wanted to talk with you so that during the series there is no more politics-related questions.”
