Lana Del Rey, birth name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant was born and raised in New York. She went to a catholic school in her childhood later transferred to Kent School. Her wish was to become a poet but when she was studying Philosophy in Fordham University her way turned to the path of music. Del Rey choose this as her major as she wanted to know the bond between god and science. And her songs hold that peacefulness of belief and the serenity comes with it. Lana Del Ray’s music genre cannot be defined as just indie pop or dream pop. Some say her music is “Hollywood sadcore”, her contralto voice has the power to bring melancholia and romance in a cinematic style. She gained her initial fame from her song “Video Games” going viral. After that her music began to gain popularity.
