Where indomitable spirit wins over physical challenge

    Sayeed Muhammad: Both his hands are handicapped, but his legs duo work properly. Born with the physical disability, Azizul Haq Munna does not find it difficult to commute. Hence, his family members got him admitted at a school. With no other option left, he mastered the skill of writing using his legs.His efforts to pursue knowledge did not frustrate him since he secured GPA-5 in the primary completion exam, leaving many surprised. The same way, Azizul achieved the highest grade points writing this year’s SSC exam. He is among the 105 students sitting for the exam from Syed Kutubjalal High School at Dakshin Surma upazila of Sylhet. However, 97 of them came successful, with three including Azizul got GPA-5 from science group.Mohammad Abdul Karim, headmaster of the school, said Azizul remained the topper throughout his secondary school life, reports Prothom Alo. Originally from the upazila’s Khalermukh village, Azizul’s parents are schoolteachers and his the second among his three siblings. The boy, however, cannot write with his hands since they are thin enough. Then again, his parents enrolled him at school as they found him interested in study. He writes using his left leg with the help of his left hand. Replying to a question over writing this way being time-consuming, Azizul said he has grown the habit to do so.It is reported that his writing look much better than those writing using their hands. Azizul wants to become a scientist when he ends his study. But he faces problem very often for writing with the help of his left foot. So his father Fazlul Haq consulted a doctor regarding the matter.According to physicians, both the hands of Azizul can become normal if operated upon. But his family is failing him the expensive treatment due to financial insolvency.
