Gayeshwar laments BNP’s lack of vigour during movement

BNP senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Sunday said BNP could have been in power had the party men put in their half efforts to make their movement a success as they are making it now to get party posts in its sixth national council.
“The county could have ruled by Khaleda Zia, not Sheikh Hasina, had the BNP leaders showed half of their vigour on the streets as they’re now active in getting party posts,” he said.
Gayeshwar, a BNP standing committee member, came up with the remarks while speaking at a views-exchange meeting of Dhaka city unit BNP at Bhasani Auditorium in the city.
Accusing the government of conspiring to foil BNP’s March 19 council, he called upon the party leaders and activists to remain alert to make their council a success thwarting all the plots and evil designs. “How much conspiracy would you hatch? In the first step of the council became successful as Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman have already been elected in the top two posts of BNP. We want to respond to the government’s plots my making our council a success,” the BNP leader told his party colleagues.
Mentioning that the space of their council venue — Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) — is too small to accommodate the party councillors and guests, he gave the BNP men various directions to maintain discipline on the council day. “We’ve nearly 2,850 councillors in addition to guests from both home and abroad, but we’ve sitting arrangements for only 4,500. So, you don’t try to enter the venue. Instead, you take position outside it and at Suhrawardy Udyan,” Gayeshwar told his party men.
