Muggers shot a shop employee to death and snatched Tk 2.90 lakh in the city’s Hajipara on Sunday afternoon.
Quoting witnesses, police said Md Ismail Hossain, 36, manager of ‘Bangladesh Sanitary’ shop at West Rampura, was going to Dutch-Bangla Bank Rampura branch on foot to deposit Tk 2.90 lakh in the afternoon. When he reached Hajipara Natun Rasta at around 2:30 pm, a gang muggers numbering 3-4 swooped on him and tried to snatch the money. As he tried to resist the snatchers, the opened fire on him and fled the scene with the money, leaving him injured, said Officer-in-charge of Ramna police station Moshiur Rahman.
