Prof. Dr. M. Shah Nawz Ali, member, UGC: Sheikh Ha-sina is running the state for the third time. Winning the election on December 31, 2008, she has been in power for the second time. Earlier she led the country winning the 1996 polls. How Bangladesh is in her leadership, and how was in the absence of her leadership, the conscious reader will be surprised at the slightest notice. Let me give you a few examples so it becomes easier to understand why Sheikh Hasina needs to run country, why should the Awami League government again be brought to power. Who thought that the war criminals would be judged? Who believed that powerful war criminals would be judged, would be punished? Some might have thought of assurance, just as speech, some might have waited with half-faith, half-disbelief for what might happen. But most of the people brushed aside Sheikh Hasina or Awami League’s promise by not believing, saying war criminals would be judged in this country? Impossible! Awami League will not do this trial, but will keep in suspense to do politics. But one did believe, was determined to judge the killers. She is Sheikh Hasina, in whose vain runs the blood of the father of the nation.
Padma Bridge will be constructed, how many people have believed. But as the World Bank ruined the dream by accusing of crime and stop financing, the dream seemed to be shattered. Sheikh Hasina blew off the World Bank’s allegation, saying the dream of the Bangali can never be broken due to false accusations; she didn’t let it to. She declared that, the dream will be fulfilled with own funding. Many disbelieved and binned the fact. But Sheikh Hasina showed it by implementing. Padma Bridge is not a dream anymore; rather a reality. Called as militant sanctuary, Bangladesh is now almost militanncy-free country; a stable country of immense possibilities. Bangladesh is now one of the listed developing countries. The per capita income is now around 17 hundred dollars. Education, maternity and child death rate, woman empowerment and with industries the country is becoming rich. For many countries in the world, Bangladesh is now a role model. They also want to progress like Bangladesh. The world is amused by the progress of Bangladesh- how the achievement is possible?; through the power of the people. The hardworking people made this impossible come possible. And the government created the field, especially the daughter of the father of the nation, Sheikh Hasina. Under her strong and courageous leadership, the impossible even now has become possible.
