Sayeed Muhammad: With the next city polls scheduled for May 15, candidates of different posts including that for the mayor’s one of the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) is passing busy time. As many as five mayoral candidates, 147 councillor candidates in 31 wards, and 38 councillor candidates for 10 reserved seats, are contesting the polls. The mayoral candidates are contesting the elections under political affiliations with the aspirants vying without any party ticket, reports the Dhaka Tribune. The candidates have already started plastering posters along the walls of city streets and also carrying out mass contact by visiting voters on the streets, homes, and offices. Talukdar Abdul Khalek, the Awami League-backed mayoral candidate, is busy campaigning in various wards throughout the day, while BNP’s mayoral aspirant, Nazrul Islam Manju, is also doing the same. Gayeswar Chandra Roy, member of BNP standing committee and chief coordinator of the 20-party alliance’s election management committee, was seen seeking votes for their candidate.Communist Party of Bangladesh-endorsed candidate, Mizanur Rahman Babu, too, is passing busy hours campaigning and holding street rallies.
