Death toll from Gopalganj bus accident rises to 8

Sayeed Muhammad: At least eight people have been killed and 26 injured after a bus crashed into a ditch in Gopalganj’s Muksudpur area.The accident took place on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway around 2:30am yesterday, bdnews24.com.A Sugandha Paribahan bus headed from Dhaka to Barisal veered off the road and struck a culvert before crashing into the ditch, said police, adding, six of them died on the spot. The Bhanga Highway Police and fire service officials rescued 28 victims and sent them to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. Two, including 28-year-old Dipon Biswas, died in hospital, officials said. Bus supervisor Asim Majhi, 35, and passenger Hasan Mia, 25, were identified among those died on the scene.
