The word ‘Orna’ in a 1st grade textbook became a subject of criticism against the education authorities such as NCTB & regarded ministries, last year. Thus, it was removed from the upcoming 1st grade Bangla Textbook ‘Amar Boi’. But, now it can be found at the alphabet learning book for the kindergarten student, on page no. 36. The social media is crazy over the fact that, why should a mere children should read, Bangla letter ‘O’ stands for ‘Orna – I want Orna’. (Orna is a piece of garments cover for adult women) Mass public including the teachers are suggesting of using simple words such as vegetable names, other than any word that is tied to anything sensitive.
