Bitcoin is heating houses in Siberia and the global hunt for Bitcoin is burning up more electricity a year than Ireland. But in Siberia, Russia, cheap energy and long cold winters puts this to good use. Processing Bitcoins or ‘mining’ uses power which creates a lot of heat. Most Bitcoin miners need cooling systems but entrepreneurs Frolov and Dimitry are waiting for winter instead. They say one Bitcoin mining unit can heat about 10 meter square of living space. Frolov briefed, “Produced heat is accumulated by a liquid heat trabsfer agent and ditributed in the underfloor heating system.” The two 1 kilowatt units they own also makes around 430 or more of monthly income.
