Ministry of Education recently formed the Secondary Education Improvement Committee. They submitted their first proposal report & suggestions in a prolonged ministerial meeting, on 30 November. The committee proposed of lessening the number of subjects from school levels and removing of study curriculum divisions (Science, Commerce & Arts). The committee wants to totally reform the education curriculum from the primary level, and categorize all the subjects into balanced sets of required expertise levels. Basically from class 6-8, there will be 3 sets. Set-‘Ka’ consisting of language studies & general math. Set-‘Kha’ consisting of general &  social science. Finally, Set-‘Ga’ consisting of science-technology, arts, physical-exercise & sports, religion studies, moral studies, agriculture & home studies, and native linguistic & culture studies. Rather than bookish or theoretical studies, Set-‘Ga’ will focus more on enabling the growth of creativity, curiosity, mentality & morality of a student. This way there will be 10 subjects instead of 14, in the JSC level. Later, Set-‘Gha’ will be added in class 9-10. Students will have the opportunity of selecting two specialized studies from here. Set-‘Gha’ consists of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Higher-Mathematics, Accounting, Marketing, Management and Economics. Students can also choose one extra subject, but that is not mandatory. Thus, there will be 7 subjects instead of 10, in the SSC level.
