The Single-Gauge Railway on Joydebpur-Jamalpur route poses to be inadequate for providing transportation lines for 10 inner-city, 5 pairs of commuters & 1 pair of Demu Trains. Therefore, Ministry of Railways has sent a proposal to the Planning Commission, stating the need for a 143 Kilometers Dual-Gauge Railway on this route. Estimated, with 21.29 lacs taka budget the project can be completed by 2019. China is interested in investing for such grand-projects as well. But, the final construction plans must be run through their contractors first. Ministry of Railways also shared the concerns for establishing Dual-Gauge on the Joydebpur- Mymensingh-Jamalpur route as well. Since, there are several power-pants situated by this route. These establishments are need of continuous material transportations via trains.
