Acco-rding to sources, Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid resigned on Monday (27 November). his position on his own. On Monday, a Pakistani Islamist group’s spokesman said that they decided to end the week long protests after the Government agreed to its demands and the law minister resigned. According to hospital officials, atleast two people and more than 250 people were injured in street protests. Hamid said that he was not responsible for the starting of the controversial amendment to the Finality of Prophet hood declaration for electoral candidates. He also mentioned that he resigned from his position for the betterment of the country. Since the past two weeks, Tehreek-e-Labaik blocked the main road of Islamabad in a protest which blamed Minister Zahid Hamid for changing the wording in an electoral oath. On Sunday, Zahid Hamid called the Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore and discussed the current situation of the country. This was a very important meeting since the Punjab CM was playing a vital role in bringing the present situation of the country under control.
