Mount Agung has been spouting volcano ash with increasing intensity since last Tuesday but had heightened indicating the potential of a larger eruption forthcoming. This prompted the National Agency for Disaster Management to issue a Level 4 alert on Monday, recommending no public activities within 8 to 10 kilometers from the peak. Thick ash shooting thousands of meters into the air above Mount Agung have also forced the closure of Bali’s main Ngurah Rai International Airport disrupting at least 445 flights and leaving 59,000 tourists stranded.Indonesian officials have informed that so far 0,000 people have been moved away but another 60,000 need to evacuate from the danger zone immediately. Indonesia’s top tourist destination, Bali attracting about 5 million visitors a year has been facing hurdles in business as Mount Agung’s volcanic tremors began to increase since September.
