Lack of beds in Japanese hospitals

Elderly Japanese people face the problem of lack of space in hospitals. 80% of them prefer to die in a hospital because they feel hospitals safer and don’t want to burden family members. One in four Japanese people are over the age of 65. And hospital beds are becoming increasingly insufficient, especially in cities. Officials predict a shortage of over 470,000 beds by 2030. By that time people will have no other choice but to take their last breath at home.
