While visiting head of the southeast Asian country’s army, a senior Chinese general said that the force is looking forward to increase the diplomatic and economic ties with Myanmar. China, as a result offered their support to Burma throughout a crisis over its treatment of Rohingya. On wednesday, the United States for the first time said that Myanmar Army’s actions toward Rohingyas is ethnic cleansing. They also threatened targeted sanctions against who are responsible for such “Horrendous atrocities”.China’s Defence Ministry while being in the rise of a complex and changeable security situation, their government is willing to maintain strategic communication with Myanmar. Since 1988, they are one of the biggest suppliers of military hardware for Myanmar. Many western countries have increased their engagements with Myanmar since their Army started handing powers over to civilians, especially when former democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi won the election. But as Myanmar’s violations of the rights of the Rohingya caused an outcry internationally, these engagements are now facing many questions.
