Farmers are rapidly losing interest in floriculture due to short & seasonal dependent market of Bangladesh. Farmers often struggling tomeetthe balance of their material cost, informed Department of Agricultural Extension’s Horticulture Wing’s Deputy Director (Flower & Fruit) AKM MonirulAlam.
This sector will fail to ever flourish in the Bangladesh market. Since, there is little no year-around demand for it, unless during few seasonal occasions. On the other hand, in neighboring country India, flowers are staple in daily lives for conducting puja. Flowers are needed to be sold on daily basis. Unless, it is expected that farmers will face huge losses. On top of it, there are even countless law complexities regarding the preservation & distribution of flowers in Bangladesh.
