12 railways between Bangladesh & India, got closed during the historical time-shifts of 1947, 1965 & 1971. Bangladesh has taken initiation to reopen all these & also requested India to renovate the railways on their side of the border. Railways Minister Mazibul Hoque mentioned that, Bangladesh-Indian bilateral relation allowed this initiation to happen. Bangladesh transportation coverage is improving so rapidly that, soon there will be railways connecting Bangladesh to Singapore, he added. 15 kilometers of railway will be laid. India will take care of 5 kilometers inside their border. Authorities estimate that, this 967.5 crores taka project might finish by next December. Petrapole-Benapole, Gede-Darshana, Radhikapur-Biral & Singhabad-Rohanpur railway connections will be reestablished. Also there will be new connections of Haldibari-Chilhati in the north. Panchagar-Shiliguri & Tripure border-city Belonia to Chittagong Sea Port, in the North-West. Also, another railway between eastern areas of Bangladesh & Mahishashan in Asam.
