Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) will be organized by the Bangladesh Navy this year, at the Bay of Bengal, 26 November. It will bring together, 32 IONC member countries of the Indian Ocean, and 5 others will take part in this grand event for showcasing their Military Exercise. Australian Navy transferred the IONS Chairmanship to Bangladesh Navy, during its 5th annual seminar, in January. This is a proud moment for Bangladesh, said former assistant Naval Chief Rear Admiral ASMA Awal (Retd.). Admiral Awal also said that, IONC had been created with the aim of creating a multilateral cooperation between the Indian oceanic countries. To strategize both about the trade relations-possibilities, and strengthening the all-around naval security of these areas. Each country need to demonstrate their geopolitical importance & issues. Hence, this grand event will surely create stronger bonds between the member countries. Also, together they will come up with the most feasible & effective solutions to the current matters, he lastly added.
