Myanmar’s Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint laid emphasis on maintaining good relations with Bangladesh saying “it’s necessary..it’s essential.. we’re neighbours. We must have a good relation.” He said this to a UNB staff reporter. He added, “we’ve to relate to each other more actively”. He emphasized on arranging frequent meetings at all level to strengthen the ties between Bangladesh and Myanmar. He commented this at the time when Ahead of ASEM foreign minister’s meeting in Myanmar, Bangladesh wants to best use this chance to seek support of high-level visits from number of countries to mount pressure On Myanmar to take back Rohingyas to their homeland and give citizenship. Dr Pe Myint, also a prominent writer highlighted on people to people contact and cultural bonding. The ASEM foreign ministers meeting that is due to 8 hold on 21 and 22 November at Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, will bring together ministers from Europe and Asia. The discussion among them will be held on how to address key challenges that affecting the two continents, such as security, climate change, sustainable development.
