10 years ago Andy Sandness lost most of his face in a suicide attempt. He recently received a face transplant. Foregoing to his surgery, he avoided people for years. In 2016, Andy finally found a donor. Rudy Ross had killed himself but donated his kidney, lungs and face. Rudy was a perfect facsimile for Andy. Since both men were around the same age and has a similar skin tone. Doctors used 3D modeling and printing. Andy went through a 56-hour face transplant surgery with a team of over 60 medical professionals. One year later, Andy’s meeting his donor’s wife and son for the first time.
