President Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump will be heading to India in the coming weeks to launch two projects which includes a Trump-branded tower in Kolkata, apartments in New Delhi and joining three other active Trump Organization projects in the country. Trump’s financial filings show that his organization’s licensing arrangements in India have brought in between $1.6 million and $11 million in royalties since 2014 – including royalties stated in a range from $100,001 to $1 million last year from the Kolkata project.
The Trump Organization vowed early that there would be “no new foreign deals” during Trump’s tenure as president but luckily these two projects in India were signed before his election.Critics of the Trump administration remarked that these deals risk major conflicts of interest for the president. A former ethics lawyer under President George W Bush, Richard Painter said that Trump risks exposing himself to potential corruption probes.
