This year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations are scheduled to begin across the country today.
A total of 2,135,333 students, which include 1,070,441 boys and 1,064,892 girls, are expected to appear at the examinations from 28,682 institutions in 3,497 centers.
Among them, 1,700,102 candidates will sit for the SSC exams under 8 general education boards while 310,172 for Dakhil exams under the Madrasah Education Board and 125,059 for vocational exams under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
The number of total examinees is 103,434 heads higher than last year’s while the number of institutions is 131 up, reports UNB.
Furthermore, a total of 434 students will sit for the examinations from eight overseas centers as well.
The written examinations will continue until February 26 while the practical examination will be held from February 27 to March 5.
As per the regulations, students have to take seats 30 minute before a test begins. Also, none, except centre secretary, will be allowed to carry mobile phone. Outsiders will be not be allowed to enter centers.
On Thursday, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni had assured that there would be no incident of question paper leaks this time. She also urged teachers, students and guardians not to pay heed to any rumors.
The Education Ministry has also directed coaching centers across the country to remain closed from January 27 to February 27 to facilitate a fair atmosphere for the SSC and equivalent examinations.
