DOT Desk: Police detained a 28-year-old woman at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday evening as she turned up at the hospital to receive a newborn baby form its mother who had earlier promised to sell the baby to the woman, reports The New Age. The two-day-old newborn’s mother said she gave birth to her son at DMCH.
on Tuesday, but refused to hand him over to the other woman for money.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Bachchu Mia said Jotsna, after giving birth to the baby, refused to hand over the baby to Sonia.
He said that the Ansar Bahini members detained Sonia in the evening after Jotsna’s husband, Tuku Mia, complained against her.
Sonia was later handed over to the Shahbagh police.
Shahbagh police station duty officer said that Sonia was in their custody but no case was lodged against her until 10:30pm.
