BNP should go to parliament

Prof Dr Ajoy Roy speaks to DOT :
BNP should go to the parliament if the party believes in parliamentary democracy. BNP should take up the role of an effective opposition party after going to the parliament. BNP should play the role for the sake of democracy.
Democracy will not flourish if AL is given near carte blanche. Absolutism will emerge in the name of democracy. This will not bring any good for democracy.
As a pro-democratic person, I think it is not a positive decision for BNP not to join the parliament. BNP should reinvent itself and galvanize the party workers so that it could emerge as a democratic party to the people. Because, many people think that BNP is a party of Khaleda Zia, which does not believe in democracy.
BNP should shake off the negative image and emerge as an acceptable political party to the people. BNP should present itself as a strong party to the people.
People are optimistic about AL and the party should live up to the expectations. It is not an easy task. But the party should prioritise the expectations and work for them. People will be satisfied if the country can graduate to a middle-income country.
The opposition party should be given space for an effective parliament. The government should go ahead with the plans of development-oriented programmes.
