Siblings among 5 killed in city road mishaps

    Five people including two school children were killed in separate road accidents at Keraniganj, Uttara and Khilkhet in Dhaka yesterday.
    The school-goers– siblings– died and their father was injured when a truck hit a motorbike at Rajendrapur Mollar Pul in South Keraniganj, reports UNB.
    The deceased are Afifa Akter Afrin, 13, a class VI student and her brother Afsar Ahmed, 10, a class IV student of Hasnabad Cosmopolitan School and College and children of Mohammad Dalim of the area.
    The accident took place around 1:00pm when the truck rammed the motorbike carrying Dalim and his children while they were returning home from school, leaving the duo dead on the spot and Dalim injured.
    Police seized the truck but could not arrest its driver as he managed to flee the scene.
    Meanwhile, three more people were killed and two others injured road accidents in Uattara and Khilkhet.
    Two pedestrians-Dalim, 20, and Mobarak, 30- were crushed under the wheels of a goods-laden truck on airport road in front of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 12:30am.
    A truck ploughed into a footpath after its driver lost control over the steering and hit the two pedestrians, leaving them dead on the spot.
    In the third accident, Bulbul Hossain, 22, son of Rajab Ali, hailing from Mowgapara village in Ishwarganj upazila in Mymensingh district, was killed and two others Sagor, 22 and Kamrul, 22, were injured in another road accident on 300-feet road in Khilket area.
    A team of police on information rushed to the spot and found the three young men critically injured inside a damaged CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
    Later, they were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared Bulbul dead.
