Three members of a family died and a minor went missing after a boat capsized in the Buriganga River on Friday night, reported UNB. The deceased were identified as Motiur Rahman Moti, 55, his wife Rozina Begum, 42, and Momtaz Begum, 50. Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Sadarghat River Police Station, said the boat carrying four members of a family sank in the river after being hit by a launch, ‘MV-Manik’, around 10:30pm.
The bodies of Rozina and Momtaz were later retrieved from the river around midnight while Moti’s body around 9:00am yesterday, the OC said.
Moti’s 5-year-old son, Abid is still missing as of the UNB report at 11:11am.
