Ambassador Muhammad Zamir speaks to DOT :
Transparency Internat-ional Bangladesh’s (TIB) in a report spoke about various electoral irregularities took place in 47 out of 50 constituencies in the 11th parliamentary polls. The Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda rejected TIB’s report on the11th parliamentary election. CEC Huda said there is no similarity of the TIB report with the reports published in newspaper and accounts of other observers during the Election Day.
“We did not get any irregularity from the information provided by election enquiring committee, executive magistrates and election commission officials,” Nurul Huda said.
In this regard, Ambassador Muhammad Zamir said that every allegation should be backed by supporting documents and if TIB has come up with allegations on electoral irregularities then it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to receive the report, conduct inquiries and give replies to those allegations with convincing explanations. Everyone has a right to complain but it is also expected that the complainant should be honest in producing this sort of report.
