Shaheed Minar clean-up campaign observed

    DOT Desk: Shaheed Minar cleaning campaign was observed across the country on Sunday ahead of the International Mother Language Day and Amar Ekushey on February 21, reports The Daily Observer.
    Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Peoples’ Theatre Association jointly conducted the campaign in a bid to clean up all the Shaheed Minars across the country in observance of the International Mother Language Day.
    Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and President of People’s Theatre Association Liaquat Ali Lucky inaugurated the clean-up campaign by placing a wreath at pavement of Central Shaheed Minar in the capital.
    One minute silence was also observed as a mark of profound respect to the memories of language heroes.

    Lucky, in his speech, said “Ekushey is the symbol of our national entity and independece. The February 21 is the main source of Liberation War”.
    Terming the Shaheed Minars as the entity of the Bengali, he said the Shaheed Minar cleansing campiaign was observed across the country, aiming at upholding the dignity of Bangla Languaage both in home and abroad. Later, a cultural programme was held on the central Shaheed Minar premises. Different prominent artists and students from different schools and colleges performed at the function.
