Private jobs should be demand-oriented

Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique speaks to DOT : 
Job security and facilities should be increased to attract more youth towards private jobs in the country. Job security is the major reason for which Bangladesh’s large youth population is leaning towards civil service and other government jobs. Chances are very slim to be sacked from government jobs. Our country’s private sector is expanding. However, facilities for private jobs are very few. I think the entrepreneurs of private sector should take care of this issue. To attract more youths towards private jobs, conditions should be decent. They youths look for job security and that security is found wanting in private jobs. For which, our youths are gravitating towards government jobs. One cannot be forced into a private job. The salary and other facilities should be increased in private jobs. There is no pension facility in private job and so in-service facilities should be enhanced. Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique is the former DU Vice Chancellor.
