PM pays homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

    Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Gopalganj’s Tungipara on the occasion of inaugurating her government for the third consecutive term.
    The prime minister also npaid placed a wreath at his shrine yesterday afternoon, reported The Daily Star.
    After laying the wreath, Sheikh Hasina stood in solemn silence as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of independence. A contingent drawn from the three wings of the military gave an honor guard to the prime minister, while the bugle played the last post on the occasion.
    Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh Rehana was also present.
    The prime minister offered fateha and joined a special munajat seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage.
    Later accompanied by the cabinet colleagues and senior Awami League leaders, the premier placed another wreath at the shrine.
    She also joined a milad and doa mahfil held on the Bangabandhu’s Mausoleum premises.
    Advisers to the prime minister, AL parliament members and central leaders, cabinet secretary, secretaries concerned to the prime minister as well as senior civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
    Awami League President Sheikh Hasina took oath as the prime minister for the fourth time, the third in a row, heading a 47-member council of ministers on Monday, a week after the Awami League-led grand alliance’s landslide victory in the 11th parliamentary election held on December 30.
