DOT Desk: Staff and drivers of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation’s (BRTC) Joar Sahara Depot in Dhaka went on a strike on Tuesday morning demanding arrears of nine months, reports Observer BD.
The staffers of the state-run bus service also locked the depot, said the depot manager Md Noor-e-Alam.
Around 120 bueses from the depot usually travel on different routes but today no buses left the depot because of the strike, the official added.
One of the protesters said the depot officials assured them several times but did not pay the their salaries.
Around 500 Staff and drivers of the depot are paid salary from transport earnings but they are not getting salaries regularly for long days due to losses of the depot for several years.
Earlier in July last year, such a strike was held at the depot demanding arrears of 10 months.
