Prof Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan speaks to DOT :
There is no question over the cabinet as Sheikh Hasina has formed it. Time has not come yet to judge the persons securing berths in the cabinet.
Ministerial post cannot be an identity. A person’s work is the real identity. Persons securing cabinet berths should fulfill their responsibilities. The new ministers are also elected public representatives from different constituencies. They have been elected as they are popular with the people. The people have been with them, as they possess good qualities. Now they are entrusted with greater responsibilities. Apart from
serving their respective constituencies, they will have to work for the whole country.
We hope that the new ministers will be able to live to the expectations. They have to bear in mind that they are pledge-bound and they should fulfill their words. They will have to remain committed to the nation.
We have high expectations over the minister for health. The minister for health should increase the budgetary allocation for health and improve healthcare services. The district level health centres should be modernised so that the people should not come divisional cities for receiving services. Quality medicare services should be ensured in the rural areas.
