Help desk opened for expatriates in Ctg

    DOT Desk: Chattogram district police have opened ‘expatriate help desk’ to provide legal assistance to the expatriates staying in different countries, reports The Daily Sun. Chattogram Superintendent of Police (SP) Noor-E-Alam Mina inaugurated the activities through cutting cake at Civic Centre of Chattogram District Police Lines in the afternoon.
    Officials said the expatriates will be able to lodge their complaints to the desk at every police station through telephone hotline, social-media, e-mail and faxes.
    Addressing the ceremony, SP Noor-E-Alam Mina said the expatriates have been playing imperative role in country’s development through sending remittances.
    “So, we want to provide them and their families with legal assistance within shortest possible time and in a hassle-free manner,” he said.
    He also called upon the expatriates to contact through hotline of the desk for help.
    The expatriates alleged that Yaba and cannabis are being smuggled to Middle-East from Bangladesh.
    The matter has been tarnishing image of the country, they said questioning the system of security-check at Bangladesh’s airports.
    They also demanded immediate step to stop smuggling of the drugs from Bangladesh.
