DOT Desk: What can be a more better gift than this from Jaya Ahsan for her fans and movie lovers in the beginning of the New Year, when an award-winning film of the celebrated actress is set for release in Bangladesh just on the fourth day of the year, reports The Independent. Starring Jaya in the lead role, eminent Indian filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly-directed ‘Bishorjon’ is going to be released in Dhaka and Chattogram yesterday. Madhumita Movies owner Iftekhar Uddin Nawshad, the importer of the film in Bangladesh, has confirmed the news that ‘Bishorjon’ is releasing in the country under the SAFTA (South Asian Free Trade Area) deal. On the other hand, the sequel of ‘Bishorjon’, titled ‘Bijoya’ directed by Kaushik Ganguly, will also hit the cinemas in West Bengal yesterday on the same day. Released earlier in West Bengal on 14 April in 2017, ‘Bishorjon’ presented Jaya in a very unique role, a Bangladesh widow. Jaya’s stunning performance in the film brought her several prestigious awards, including Filmfare Award, Z Cine Award, International Bangla Film Award as the first artiste from Bangladesh.

Director Kaushik Ganguly, who is also the writer of the film, has starred opposite Jaya along with Tollywood actor Abir Chatterjee.

Jaya said, “The film ‘Bishorjon’ and ‘Bijoya’ are most noteworthy films in my acting career. Though many films were released in our country under SAAFT before, we didn’t find Bangladesh, people of Bangladesh and songs of our soil in those films. But the audience will find our roots in ‘Bishorjon’.

“I urge my fans and viewers, who didn’t watch ‘Bishorjon’ on TV and any other platforms as they were waiting to watch it only on the big screen, for coming to the cinema halls now and watch my film.”

‘Bishorjon’ will be screened in Madhumita, Balaka, Star Cineplex and Shaymoli Cinema in Dhaka while the film can be enjoyed at Silver Screen in Chattogram. l
