DOT Desk: The Ananya Sahitya Puraskar 1425 goes to writer Akimun Rahman, the fortnightly Ananya announced, reports The New Age.
This award will be handed over to her at a function on January 5 at the National Museum auditorium where poet Asad Chowdhury and writer Aktar Kamal will remain present as guests.
The fortnightly Ananya introduced the literary award for women in Bengali year 1401.
Born in 1960 in Narayanganj, Akimun completed her bachelors and masters at Dhaka University and did her PhD under prolific writer Humayun Azad. Her research was later published under the title Adhunik Bangla Upanyase Bastabatar Swarup from Bangla Academy.
Among her works Bibi Theke Begum, Sonar Kharkuto, Purusher Prithibite Ek Meye, Raktapunje Gnethe Jawa Machhi, Eisab Nibhrita Kuhak, Jibaner Purono Brittanta, Nirantar Purush Bhabna, Pouranik Purush, Sakshi Kebal Chaitra Maser Din, Jakhan Ghasera Amar Bara, and Achin Alokkumar O Naganya Manabi are prominent.
