The good, bad and ugly of Bangladesh cricket

DOT Desk: The 2018 was quite eventful for Bangladesh cricket team, reports The New Age.
From their home series defeat against Sri Lanka to the back-to-back Test and one-day international series wins over West Indies, Bangladesh have passed action-filled time throughout the year.
Despite their losing in the last Twenty20 international against West Indies, which made them suffer a 2-1 series defeat, the 2018 could also be termed as one of the most successful years for Bangladesh cricket.
It achieved many successes, which include winning ODI and Twenty20 series in West Indies, reaching Asia Cup final for the third time in UAE and defeating Zimbabwe and West Indies at home.
The team saw many ups and downs in the first six months of the year but since the one-day international series victory against West Indies in July after the joining of new head coach Steve Rhodes their performance took an upward curve.
Mominul Haque’s twin hundred in Tests, Mahmudullah’s flicked six over Sri Lanka in Nidahas Trophy, Sakib al Hasan’s injury saga, Tamim Iqbal’s one-ball heroic with broken wrist, Mashrafee bin Murtaza’s joining politics, Liton Das’s brilliant hundred in Asia Cup final and Musfiqur Rahim’s world record feat with second double hundred have dominated talks in cricketing fraternity.
This year Bangladesh also touched some new lows, which included their thrashing by Sri Lanka in tri-series final, clean sweep defeats against Afghanistan in Twenty20 series and lowest ever score of 43 runs in a Test innings against West Indies in Antigua.
Here are the summaries of Bangladesh cricket’s good, bad and ugly things in 2018.
