BNP Secretary General voiced strong doubt about credible polls scheduled to take place today. He further added that it is not easy to revive the “dead democracy as people have lost their confidence in the country’s election system”. He also said they could not carry out the electioneering properly due to continued arrest of their leaders and activists and obstructions by their opponents while the candidacies of their many candidates were annulled as part of a “conspiracy”.
On the other hand, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged all, including her party candidates and followers, not to believe if BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront announce their withdrawal from tomorrow’s election halfway through. “All must stay alert so that the Oikyafront cannot make this election questionable,” she said.
Now if we relate these statements, we find that these statements will confuse people and will create mistrust among people about the integrity and credibility of this election.
Every political party participating in this election has a responsibility for gaining people’s trust in this election, which would ultimately turn this election to be successful. Let’s hope that our democracy shall continue its journey through this election.
