Military not making a difference: BNP

Main opposition party BNP has alleged that military deployment is “not making a difference” in ensuring fair election atmosphere in the country.
“Over 100 of our men including 19 of our candidates were injured in attacks in 24 hours,” alleged Rizvi Ahmed, senior joint secretary of BNP.

“The situation on the election field is not improving despite the deployment of military yesterday. Dr Kamal has termed it as unexpected,” he alleged.

Rizvi was speaking at a press conference arranged at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on the second day of army deployment ahead of December 30 election, reported The Daily Star.

He alleged that police were showing even more intolerance against opposition activists. “Before, they were charging batons then firing shots. Now they start off with gunshots.”

Hoping for better role of military, Rizvi called out to take steps regarding creating a peaceful environment for the upcoming parliamentary election.
