Week-long celebration begins at Shilpakala

    A week-long celebration titled ‘Bijoyer Mahotsab’ has begun on Friday at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital, reports The Independent.
    Organised by the BSA and planned by BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, the event is being held at the open premises of BSA from December 21 to 27.

    DhakaLive has news that the week-long event features film, theatre, pala, music, dance, acrobatic show and others. The event begins with the film screening at 4:30pm every day.

    Presided over by Liaquat Ali Lucky, former vice chancellor of Dhaka University AASM Arefin Siddique was present as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of ‘Bijoyer Mahotsab’. Besides, Mancha Sarothi-famed theatre personality Ataur Rahman attended the event as the honourary guest, while professor Afsar Ahmad from Jahangirnagar University’s drama and dramatics department and secretary general of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Kamal Bayezid were present as the special guests.

    The event on the first day began with the screening of the documentary ‘Amader Bangabandhu’ and short film ‘Galpo Sangkhep’.

    At the cultural segment of the event, artistes of the BSA performed dance with the songs ‘Daam Diye Kinechhi Bangla’ and ‘Sonai Bandaila Nao’. Then, the artistes of Dibya Cultural Organisation and Srishti Cultural Academy performed dances with a few popular songs.

    Singers Mehreen, Ajgar Alim, Doli Mandal, Mofizur Rahman and Suchitra Rani Sutradhar performed songs at the event.

    Also, the BSA acrobatic team presented an acrobatic show and theatre troupe Batighar staged a part of its play ‘Radcliffe Line’.
