A mentally challenged widow has allegedly been gang raped by miscreants at Kharinchi village of Manirampur upazila, reports The Daily Observer. A case was filed against four local youths with Manirampur Police Station on Friday night over the incident that took place on Wednesday evening.
According to the case statement, the victim was returning home after meeting her ‘boyfriend’ on Wednesday evening when some miscreants, including Sohag and Hafizur, picked her up. They took the victim to a nearby field and violated her in turns. Hearing victim’s screams, locals rushed in and rescued her while the rapists managed to flee. Inspector of Manirampur Police Station Enamul Haque said the medical test on the victim was carried out on Saturday.
Locals said the victim, who lives at her maternal grandfather’s house, was married off to a youth barely one year ago. However, the youth divorced her later two months back.
